Managing Warehouses in CODRocket
If your business operates from multiple storage locations, warehouses, or fulfillment centers, CODRocket's multi-warehouse feature helps you track inventory across all locations and optimize order fulfillment. This guide explains how to set up and manage warehouses effectively.
Why Multi-Warehouse Management Matters
For growing COD businesses, having inventory in multiple locations offers several advantages:
- Faster Delivery: Ship from the warehouse closest to the customer to reduce delivery times
- Regional Coverage: Serve different geographic areas efficiently without relying on a single central warehouse
- Risk Mitigation: Avoid business disruption if one location faces issues (power outage, flooding, etc.)
- Cost Optimization: Reduce shipping costs by fulfilling orders from nearby locations
Creating a Warehouse
- Navigate to Inventory > Warehouses
- Click "+ Add Warehouse"
- Fill in the warehouse details:
- Warehouse Name: A descriptive name (e.g., "Casablanca Central", "Marrakech Distribution Center")
- Address: The physical address of the warehouse
- City: The city where the warehouse is located
- Contact Person: The warehouse manager or primary contact
- Phone: Contact number for the warehouse
- Is Primary: Mark one warehouse as your default/primary location
- Click "Save Warehouse"
Assigning Inventory to Warehouses
Once warehouses are created, you can manage stock levels per location:
- Go to Inventory > Products and select a product
- In the "Stock by Location" section, you will see all warehouses with their current stock levels
- Update stock quantities for each warehouse individually
- The total stock displayed is the sum across all warehouses
Stock Transfers Between Warehouses
When you need to move inventory between locations:
- Go to Inventory > Transfers
- Click "+ New Transfer"
- Select the source warehouse (where stock is coming from)
- Select the destination warehouse (where stock is going to)
- Add products and quantities to transfer
- Submit the transfer request
- When the physical transfer is complete, mark it as "Completed" in the system
Order Fulfillment from Multiple Warehouses
CODRocket can intelligently route orders to the optimal warehouse based on:
- Proximity: Fulfill from the warehouse closest to the customer's delivery address
- Stock Availability: Only route to warehouses that have the ordered products in stock
- Manual Override: You can always manually assign an order to a specific warehouse
Warehouse Reports
Monitor warehouse performance in the analytics section:
- Stock Value by Warehouse: See the total value of inventory at each location
- Transfer History: Track all stock movements between warehouses
- Fulfillment Rate: Measure how efficiently each warehouse processes orders
