Adding Products to CODRocket
Your product catalog is the foundation of your CODRocket store. Properly configured products streamline order creation, enable accurate inventory tracking, and provide valuable analytics about your best sellers. This guide covers everything you need to know about adding, organizing, and managing products in CODRocket.
Creating a New Product
- Navigate to Inventory > Products from the left sidebar
- Click the "+ Add Product" button in the top-right corner
- Fill in the product details as described below
- Click "Save Product"
Product Information Fields
- Product Name: A clear, descriptive name that helps your team identify the product quickly (e.g., "Wireless Bluetooth Headphones - Black")
- SKU (Stock Keeping Unit): A unique code for identifying the product. This is essential for inventory management and integration with other systems. Example: "WBH-BLK-001"
- Category: Organize products into categories for easier browsing and reporting (e.g., Electronics, Fashion, Beauty)
- Price: The default selling price. This auto-fills when the product is added to an order, but can be overridden per order
- Cost Price: Your purchase or production cost. This enables profit margin calculations in analytics
- Weight: Product weight, useful for calculating shipping costs if your delivery pricing is weight-based
- Description: A detailed product description. This appears on landing pages if you use the store builder
Product Images
Upload high-quality product images:
- Recommended size: 800x800px minimum for clarity on all devices
- Supported formats: JPG, PNG, WebP
- Maximum file size: 5MB per image
- You can upload multiple images and set a primary image that appears in order lists and catalogs
Product Variants
If your product comes in different sizes, colors, or configurations, use the Variants feature:
- In the product form, enable "Has Variants"
- Define variant attributes (e.g., Size: S, M, L, XL; Color: Red, Blue, Black)
- Each variant combination gets its own SKU, price, and stock quantity
- When adding the product to an order, the team member selects the specific variant
Stock Management
For each product or variant, set the initial stock quantity:
- Current Stock: The number of units currently available
- Low Stock Alert: Set a threshold that triggers a notification when stock falls below this number
- Track Inventory: Enable or disable automatic stock deduction when orders are created
For multi-location stock management, see Managing Warehouses.
Bulk Product Import
To add many products at once, use the bulk import feature:
- Go to Inventory > Products > Import
- Download the product CSV template
- Fill in your product data
- Upload and review the import preview
- Confirm to create all products
Product Analytics
Once products are in the system and orders are being processed, you can track product performance in the Sales Reports section, including units sold, revenue per product, and return rates by product.
