Delivery Performance Analytics
Delivery is where COD businesses either profit or lose money. Every failed delivery represents wasted shipping costs, lost product, and missed revenue. CODRocket's delivery analytics help you monitor, measure, and improve your delivery operations with data-driven insights. This guide explains all available delivery metrics and how to use them to optimize your logistics.
Accessing Delivery Analytics
Navigate to Analytics > Delivery Performance from the left sidebar. Select your date range and optionally filter by delivery zone, driver, or carrier.
Key Delivery Metrics
Delivery Success Rate
This is the most important metric for any COD business. It measures the percentage of shipped orders that were successfully delivered:
Formula: (Delivered Orders / Shipped Orders) x 100%
- Excellent: Above 75%
- Good: 65-75%
- Needs Improvement: 50-65%
- Critical: Below 50%
First Attempt Success Rate
The percentage of orders successfully delivered on the first attempt. Re-delivery attempts cost time and money. A high first-attempt rate indicates efficient operations.
Average Delivery Time
The average time from when an order is shipped to when it is delivered. Broken down by zone and carrier to identify where delays occur.
Return Rate and Reasons
Detailed breakdown of why deliveries fail:
| Return Reason | What It Means | How to Reduce |
|---|---|---|
| Customer Refused | Customer changed their mind | Improve order confirmation process |
| Wrong Address | Address was incorrect or incomplete | Verify addresses during confirmation call |
| Customer Unreachable | Could not contact customer for delivery | Collect secondary phone numbers |
| Not Home | Customer was not at the address | Send delivery time notifications |
| Price Disagreement | Customer disagreed with COD amount | Confirm exact amount during verification call |
Driver Performance Dashboard
Monitor individual driver performance:
- Deliveries per Day: Average number of deliveries completed per working day
- Success Rate per Driver: Some drivers consistently outperform others. Use this data for training and incentive programs
- Average Time per Delivery: How long each driver takes from pickup to delivery
- Cash Collection Accuracy: Does the collected amount match the expected amount? Discrepancies may indicate errors or issues
Zone Performance Analysis
Compare delivery performance across geographic zones:
- Success Rate by Zone: Identify zones with consistently low delivery rates. These may need different carriers or delivery strategies
- Average Delivery Time by Zone: See which zones take longest, helping you set realistic customer expectations
- Volume by Zone: Understand order distribution across your delivery network
- Cost per Delivery by Zone: Factor in delivery costs to understand true profitability by region
Trend Analysis
Track how delivery performance changes over time:
- Weekly Trends: Monitor week-over-week changes in delivery success rates
- Seasonal Patterns: Identify periods where delivery performance drops (holidays, weather events) and plan accordingly
- Improvement Tracking: After implementing changes (new confirmation process, different carriers), measure the impact on delivery metrics
